Family membership: a parent enrols a child

A family membership strains software that knows one customer per invoice. The child is the member. The parent logs in and arranges the sign-up, but the membership and the Mollie customer belong to the child.

How a parent adds a child

The parent logs in once in the member area, adds the child and picks the organisation and the membership. They can then switch which family member the pass shows. Tickets and the profile stay with the parent. No second password for an eight-year-old.

Who is on the debit

The debit and the mandate sit with the child, not with a separate payer. If the child has no email of their own, that payment uses the parent’s address. If the membership changes, it changes on the child.

You use this at a dance school, football club or yoga studio. The child scans in with their own pass.

What not to do

Do not put every child under the parent’s name in Excel. Then the teacher does not know which child came in, and the treasurer does not know which membership belongs to which debit.

Frequently asked questions

Can one parent enrol several children?

Yes. The parent logs in once, adds a child, picks the organisation and the membership, then can switch which family member the pass shows in the member area.

Does the child or the parent pay?

The membership and the debit sit with the child. If the child has no email of their own, the payment uses the parent’s address.

Does this only work for sport?

No. The same pattern fits a dance school, yoga studio or association where a parent arranges the membership.
